Curriculum

Details of documents relating to the curriculum, schemes of work, and syllabi are available in school. Children are introduced to a wide variety of experiences and activities by a well-balanced curriculum which is relevant, and has built into it, progression and continuity. The content of the curriculum is related to the process of learning. The basic skills of numeracy and literacy are taught separately as well as integrated into other aspects of the curriculum. We aim to develop the whole child – socially, morally, spiritually, mentally and physically.

5 core subjects of English, Mathematics, Science, Information and Communication Technology and Religious Education are taught through the school. In addition, the Foundation Subjects taught are: history, art, PE, geography, music and design and technology. Personal Social and Health Education is embedded in all subjects as well as being taught as a separate subject.

The content of the curriculum is laid out in the Qualifications and Curriculum, (QCA) Schemes of work and in the National Literacy and Numeracy Strategy documents.

All curriculum schemes, policies and DFES guidelines and circulars are available in school for parents to read if required. If you require any information or have any queries about the curriculum you should discuss these initially with the class teacher.

To ensure that we all work together to achieve our aims, senior staff, curriculum co-ordinators and governors monitor the curriculum.
